Ink Pads

What is an ink pad?

An ink pad is a small, flat tool that is usually rectangular in shape and filled with a sponge or fabric material soaked in ink. Its main function is to provide ink for a rubber stamp or a transparent stamp. When you press the stamp on the ink pad, the stamp will be stained with ink, and then you can stamp on paper, cloth, wood, etc.

There are many types of ink pads, which can be divided into the following according to the type and purpose of ink:

  • Dye-based ink: fast drying, suitable for general paper
  • Pigment-based ink: rich color, suitable for fine printing or slow drying
  • Waterproof ink: used in humid or special environments
  • Archival ink: durable and non-fading, suitable for long-term preservation of documents

Purpose of special ink pads for stamps

Ink pads are indispensable tools when using rubber stamps, return address stamps, or fabric stamps. Common applications include:

  • Office use: date stamps, company stamps, signature stamps
  • Handmade DIY: card making, scrapbooking, handbook decoration
  • Children's handicrafts: graffiti, drawing, fingerprint art
  • Fabric printing: use special ink pads to print pictures on fabrics
  • Product marking: suitable for wood, leather, wrapping paper, etc.

Some ink pads are refillable (reusable) and can be extended with refill bottles; some are disposable ink pads, which are easy to use and replace.
